Synthesis of Chromium VI Complexes 2,2-Bipyridine-5,5-Dicarboxylic Acid
Abstract
In this study, a new multidentate ligand based on the 2,2’-bipyridine derivatives incorporating diamide functional groups were synthesized and their corresponding transition metal complexes with Chromium(VI), were prepared. The lihgand were synthesized by oxidizing of the precursor compound of 5,5'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine to the acid derivatives which was subsequently converted into the acidchloride derivatives with thionyl chloride, then following treatment with the amines, picolinamide or piperidine 2 carboxamide afforded the diamide-functionalised ligand L1, respectively. The structure of the ligand and the transition metal complex was confirmed by elemental analysis, NMR, FTIR, and mass techniques.
