Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between serum ionized calcium levels and Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) in women facing infertility. Conducted with 45 pre-infertility females aged 20-35 from AL-Saader Medical City, the research compares these levels to a control group of healthy volunteers. The findings indicate that the infertility group exhibited significantly lower mean serum ionized calcium levels (4.25 ± 0.72 mg/dl) compared to the control group (5.33 ± 0.31 mg/dl), alongside higher parathyroid hormone (PTH) levels and lower AMH concentrations (2.35 ± 1.57 ng/dl vs. 4.53 ± 0.95 ng/dl). The study highlights a critical association between calcium equilibrium and reproductive capacity, suggesting that adequate ionized calcium levels are essential for ovarian function and may serve as a predictive marker for ovarian reserve. Future research should explore the underlying mechanisms of calcium's role in fertility, potentially guiding interventions for women experiencing infertility.
